About us

Transformation Happens Here.

Our mission is to help professionals create trauma-informed environments that heal and empower.

Our Story

We all have witnessed the impact of trauma on our society. Our founder, Emily Santiago decided to build the program she felt she and her colleagues needed to address burnout and turnover in schools.

In 2017, as a University instructor in the Educational Psychology department at California State University East Bay, our founder, Emily Santiago worked with professors to develop the Trauma-Informed Specialist program. The Center for Social Resilience was established a year later and our first certification cohort began.

Our pioneering program is building experts across the US and abroad who can respond effectively to the needs of children with trauma, implement practices that promote equity and healing, and ensure all educators have the emotional capacity to prevent burnout.

The Center for Social Resilience offers a unique approach to healing trauma by building the emotional capacity of individuals and organizations. We have a strengths-based Social Resilience Scale and now provide training, coaching, and peer support programs. We truly believe that focusing on the needs of people impacted by trauma will drive a revolution of compassion and innovation in our communities.
